SUU Hunter Conference Center Upper Parking Lot

Watson was tasked with the redesign of Southern Utah University's Hunter Conference Center parking lot area and access lane in order to assist in proper drainage. Multiple options were evaluated for consideration, which included pervious concrete and runoff storage underneath the parking area. Due to the adjacent hillside, it was determined that the pervious concrete and under parking drainage storage would not be a long-term viable solution for the drainage issues.

It was far more of a challenge to address existing conditions that were not meeting the drainage needs of the facility than it would have been to start from a blank slate. Specifications had to be made to incorporate the current materials and the cost of any necessary alterations was factored in as a new drainage system was designed and implemented.

Watson Engineering Company provided civil engineering, geotechnical and materials testing, surveying, and construction staking.
