SUU Eccles Coliseum Track Resurfacing

Southern Utah University is home to a full-size regulation track and field surrounded by the Eccles Coliseum. Due to a broken drainage pipe, settling had occurred on the north end of the lanes.

The track surface and the concrete apron were completely removed to repair the leaking drainage pipe and to allow for the installation of the new NCAA-approved track.

Watson worked with Hellis Construction providing civil engineering, construction staking and layout, materials testing, and paint marking controls.

The materials that the track is made from are unique and temperamental. The experienced technicians at Watson utilized years of experience to ensure that the job was completed in a timely manner and within the budget limitations.

It was also a challenge to address the portion of the track that needed to be repaired without causing damage to the track that was still in good repair. The schedule for this project was truncated to ensure that tournaments and practices were not curtailed for any longer than absolutely necessary. The lanes were repaired as soon as possible so as to not derail any training or events that typically take place in the Eccles Coliseum.
