WEC Earns AASHTO Accreditation Renewal
Watson Engineering’s Accredited On-Site Lab Ensures Timely, Quality Testing For Clients
As one of the first engineering firms in the area to provide geotechnical engineering services, Watson Engineering continues to offer professional, accurate, competent, and timely geotechnical testing for our clients. We are pleased to announce the renewal of our five-year American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials (AASHTO) Accreditation in Aggregate Testing and Soil Testing. AASHTO sets industry standards and publishes specifications and test protocols for highway design and construction best practices throughout the United States.
Brian Amos knows a thing or two about testing. He has been the Geotechnical Manager for Watson Engineering since 2014. Brian typically spends part of his day in the office and part of his day in the field managing testing projects, training new technicians, and performing fieldwork for geotechnical or environmental investigations. At any one time, Brian manages dozens of materials testing, geotechnical, and environmental projects. We know accurate and efficient testing is essential to our clients at Watson.
Testing is one thing. Having an accredited lab on-site is another. Brian admits, “Our clients appreciate having a laboratory in-house and are confident that we will handle their testing properly. They know we will do a quality job and that they can rely on the test results.” For the last nine years, Watson Engineering has served as one of only 2,000 AASHTO accredited testing laboratories in the United States.
In addition to providing individual tests, Watson Engineering’s lab process has been AASHTO Accredited as a C1077 Testing Laboratory. Brian explained, “It’s not just about individual testing. Our entire lab process is accredited and meets all AASHTO’s testing specifications. This means we can do all testing on-site and don’t have to ship our clients’ tests to another lab, which saves our clients time and money on their projects.”
Watson Engineering is a full-service civil, structural, geotechnical, and surveying firm. We have been serving clients in southern Utah and the surrounding areas since 1972. As a full-service firm, all of our civil engineers, surveyors, drafters, special inspectors, and geotechnical engineers are in-house and participate in each project, providing a comprehensive and cohesive product for our clients.
