Renewable Energy

Milford Solar 1

Located in Beaver County, the photovoltaic power station is the largest group of PV generators in Utah. Commissioned in 2016, the Milford Solar Farm was acquired by US Solar Fund in Fall 2019. Work began immediately on the site so commercial operations could begin before the end of 2020.

As the only all-inclusive civil engineering firm in southern Utah, Watson Engineering was engaged by the owner to provide civil, environmental and geotechnical engineering for the 100 MW solar site. Crews surveyed and staked the site, and tested pile loads. In addition to special inspections, Watson prepared developed and implemented a storm water pollution prevention plan (SWPPP) including performing inspections and preparing and submitting reports.

Faced with a challenging project schedule, Watson Engineering dedicated people and manpower to meet critical deadlines. A focus on frequent communication and collaboration ensured the team stayed on schedule and met owner goals.

Milford Solar 1
Milford, Utah

We hired Watson Engineering Company to provide civil, environmental and geotechnical engineering, as well as construction materials testing and surveying services for the 100 MW Milford 1 solar site. The project schedule was challenging; having one contract for all these services was very helpful in saving us time and ultimately money. In addition, Watson’s experience in Utah, in combination with their local knowledge of Beaver County Utah’s permitting and inspection requirements, was valuable in ensuring that McCarthy complied with all State and Local environmental, building code, and permitting requirements. Watson Engineering dedicated manpower, communicated frequently, and worked collaboratively to meet our critical deadlines. I highly recommend Watson Engineering Company for renewable energy projects.
