What we do
Ralph E.
Watson, the owner and operator of
Watson Engineering, has been involved in private-practice
engineering for 25 years. In 1972, Ralph, along with his brother
Ken, and two other partners, began Eckhoff, Watson and Preator
Engineering. EWP grew into a large corporation that provided
engineering services throughout the western United States. EWP
operated with well-over 100 employees and boasted seven-digit sales
on a regular basis.
In 1992, Ralph separated from EWP and
formed Watson Engineering Company. WEC is located in Cedar City,
Utah, but operates throughout the intermountain west including Utah,
Nevada, New Mexico, Idaho and Arizona.
WEC provides a variety of civil and
geotechnical engineering services. Services that WEC provides
include both civil and structural engineering along with
geotechnical and environmental engineering. They are insistent on
providing the highest quality product at the most cost-effective
means to the client.
How we do it
Watson Engineering has the made the
investment to own and operate the best equipment in their pursuit of
engineering excellence. They pride themselves on utilization of the
most recent technological advances as well as being professional,
knowledgeable and friendly. They have worked hard to establish
themselves as a reputable firm, and will continue to operate under
the same philosophy in the future.
The structural and design portions of
the company are under the direction of Ralph E.
Watson. The WEC
staff is proficient in the uses and applications of the AutoCAD
system. Other software applications assist WEC with specific types
of projects.
The land surveying is under the
direction of the crew chief David
Woods. The survey crew uses both a
TrimbleŽ GPS system and WildŽ Total Station to complete the
fieldwork. The surveying systems are completely interfaced with the
computer stations providing a cost-effective engineering operation.
